natalie love, ph.d.
CROCUS Postdoctoral Researcher
Natalie's work focuses on understanding the patterns and drivers of urban forest resilience in the greater Chicago region. Her previous work focused on assessing urban forest diversity, structure, and function in California. She received a Ph.D. in Ecology and Evolution from the University of California, Santa Barbara, where she studied geographic variation in reproductive traits in the genus Streptanthus. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, baking bread, eating and exploring Chicago via e-bike.
Eduardo Tovar
NSF Graduate Research Fellow
Eduardo is interested in understanding the role of phenology in driving plant invasions. He graduated with a B.S. in Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. In addition to a GRFP, Eduardo was awarded with a prestigious UIC Pipeline to an Inclusive Faculty Fellowship. Aside from research, he is also very passionate about the inclusion of BIPOC scientists in academia.
Sarah Romy
Graduate Student
Sarah graduated from the University of St. Francis in 2022 where she earned her Bachelor's degree in Biology and a minor in Environmental Science. While in undergrad, she worked for the Forest Preserve District of Will County where she fell in love with Midwestern ecosystems and witnessed invasion and succession first hand. She is currently focused on the roles of structural diversity and aboveground traits in associational resistance of tree communities to invasive insect pests.
renee ramos
